Alex aims to represent Evansville at the Statehouse in a way that brings dollars to Southwest Indiana to improve our infrastructure, housing, and paves the way for every resident and every business to reach its fullest potential. He will be intentional legislating and advocating for resources to address housing, food access, ensuring that our utility bills become more manageable, and positioning Evansville to better thrive.
Our community has historically done well being self-sufficient. It is now time for our state to invest more into Evansville. Our collaborative spirit continues to pay off for us, but it is important that Indiana invests in what we have sought to do independently. Evansville is the third largest city with a lot of capacity for growth and development.
As your State Representative, I will advocate and legislate, much like how I have done as your 4th Ward City Councilman. Now, I am running to be your voice at the Statehouse. There are a lot of challenges that exist, but I’m prepared to solve problems and positively influence the finances of every resident in the 77th District.
Our children deserve to reach their fullest potential. Alex believes that every child should have access to quality education in their neighborhood. He wants to ensure that our schools and the development of every young Hoosier is intentional. Alex also believes in fully supporting, paying, and protecting our teachers and those who have devoted careers to developing youth. Though education has become incredibly political, Alex believes that our brightest future depends on educating and preparing the next generation to thrive.
Alex is a product of public education and committed several years earlier in his career as a public school administrator who developed multiple programs to expose, mentor, and prepare students for careers immediately after high school graduation. He believes that EVERY student should be better prepared for adulthood, exposed to career opportunities, graduate from high school with more skills, and a plan to positively contribute to society through meaningful employment, college enrollment, or enlisting in our armed services.
Alex will be an advocate and champion for our youth and their development into responsible adulthood. Indiana must do better as it relates to our young Hoosiers. Alex is the right choice to move Indiana forward!
The future of Evansville depends on ensuring that the companies in Evansville developing talent, our residents having access to high wage-high demand career opportunities, and are able to grow and/or attract business to our area. Alex believes that more apprenticeships and career exploration programs should be implemented for students that expose the next generation to careers most in demand. Alex has been instrumental in creating opportunities for residents to land quality and well-paying jobs across the nation. His experiences will be beneficial at the Statehouse. He is positioned and focused on legislating sound policy to best impact Hoosiers’ wallets and purses.
Alex is an advocate for safe, quality, and affordable housing. He has brought housing to the forefront of many community conversations and has also allocated local resources to addressing our housing problems. Though a lot of positive things have happening in our community to improve housing, Alex wants to do more to ensure housing and neighborhoods are better. Alex believes that every Hoosier deserves safe, quality, and affordable housing options.
Alex believes that our region is in a great position to thrive and wants to be a champion for Evansville, while also embracing our economic potential. In order to set our region up for future successes, we must have the right infrastructure that is safe and easy to navigate. Councilman Burton believes that Evansville can be more than just the 3rd largest city in Indiana.
He is ready to go to work in the Statehouse for District 77. With roadwork preparing to begin on I-69, US Hwy 41, and the Lloyd Expressway there is no better time than the present to advocate for more transit opportunities that better connects neighborhoods in Evansville, then Evansville to the rest of Indiana, and finally, our community to the entire Tri-State Area and beyond.
